Another outlet has published a story confirming that Honda has resumed work on a sports car project. This report was more specific than the translation we received of the Yahoo Japan article, with Asahi.com stating "The new model will be based on the 3.4-liter HSV-010GT race car.". Asahi.com is reporting that Ito stated that one reason for introducing the car is to respect the spirit of the SuperGT series, where all of the competitors are racing versions of actual road cars. Interestingly, Ito apparently mentioned there could be a low priced, small sports car in the works. He was quoted as saying "There are two types of sports cars--affordable and high-performance. I hope we will be able to market both,"

On this side of the Pacific, I queried Chuck Schifsky, a Honda Spokesman. He said he was unable to add any details at this point, but he did say that it would be inaccurate to call it an "NSX replacement" or to say that the "NSX is back on again".
