Now, Nikkei is saying that Honda is working on a new plug-in hybrid vehicle and an all-electric vehicle, both to be introduced within three years. It is said that these plans will be formally announced by Honda President Takanobu Ito during a briefing on Honda's medium-term business strategy scheduled for Tuesday.

Nikkei also suggests that the plug-in will deliver fuel economy of about 60km/liter (141 MPG) - more than double the rating of the Insight in Japan (26km/L).

We should know more as the official press release from the business briefing is (presumably) released in the next few hours.
