Sometimes practically every component is changed, yet one is truly an evolution of the earlier plank. Sometimes it's more or less a light wheelbase stretch & a complete rebody of the lower structure.
It's why we use the term architecture (or plank!) since it's more intellectual property, rather than individual components.
The DC2 'Teg was essentially a Civic Coupe with Accord legs fitted, so it was a sort of clever mash of existing hardware.
The DC Integra was more Civic coupe. The suspension is 100% interchangeable. It was NOT interchangeable with the Accords which had completely different upper A-arm locations, different trailing arms, different sub-frames etc.
I actually meant the uprights & brakes, rather than the whole.
The Accord was a far bigger suspension set. I have (most of) it on the Prelude.
The rear set-up had to dispense with the Civ's unusual 'steered' trailing arms, to allow articulation for the brilliant active 4WS system. Which necessitated changing practically every component from the non 4WS models as well...
I believe BMW's and Nissan's 4WS still don't help with the parking/tight turns, which made Hondas so brilliant for FWD applications.
